Headway Leicester launches Travelling Gallery of images created for their 2024 Artwork Calendar.
Every year our Wednesday group create artwork with guidance from Art therapists and long- term Artist volunteer Helen Newton for our annual calendar. This year we are showcasing this work in honour of his Majesty King Charles III to celebrate the coronation and the commencement of his reign.
The Travelling Gallery is being launched at legal partners Nelson’s of Leicester and they have published the invitation to the event as below:
“After the unveiling at Nelsons the Travelling Gallery heads out across Leicester City, Leicestershire County and Rutland libraries as well as Community & Civic buildings. For a full list of venues please check our Facebook page, first stop is Leicester Central Library on Bishop Street, from May 6th.
Headway Leicester are deeply committed to supporting individuals and improving life after brain injury, and one of the initiatives is the provision of art therapy sessions, known for their profound positive impact on well-being.
To celebrate the creativity and resilience of the community they work with, we’re thrilled to unveil the Headway Leicester & Leicestershire’s Travelling Gallery. This gallery will embark on a city-wide tour throughout the year, showcasing the remarkable work created by their members.
Founded in 1979 as a national organization, Headway has since flourished, with affiliated groups and branches across the British Isles. Leicestershire, Leicester & Rutland Headway, began in 1990 with humble origins, starting with just one part-time staff member.
Today, they’re proud to employ 8 dedicated staff members and operate a thriving day service five days a week, along with a comprehensive city and countywide outreach service, including Rutland.”
In partnership with the National Lottery, Nelson’s Solicitors and Anchor Print and with special thanks to long time volunteer artist Helen Newton.
