Headway Leicester bags £2000 from Tesco’s community grant scheme!

tesco special offer
Tesco colleagues have come together virtually up and down the country to vote and it can now be revealed Headway Leicester has been awarded £2000.

Headway Leicester is delighted to announce it has bagged £2000 from Tesco’s Bags of Help community grant scheme.

Bags of Help is run in partnership with community charity Groundwork, and sees grants awarded to thousands of local community projects every year. Since launching in 2015, Bags of Help has provided more than £68 million to almost 30,000 local community projects across England.

Thanks to the grants we will be able to provide various

Art and Creative Therapy Workshops for local brain injury survivors.

The first sessions are being hosted by the wonderful The Curator Educator in-house at our Day Service where members will learn how to make their very own set of Bees Wax Wraps and create a two tiered necklace and bracelet.

We will then welcome back Pippa Pixley who will deliver another very special online workshop at our Digital Day Centre.

Members will be able to create their own eco-friendly shopping bag from natural materials including apples, lemons, onions and peppers to create beautiful patterns and designs on their mono-printed bag.

Mary Goulty, Headway Leicester’s Services Director says:

“Art has a strong relaxing and stress reduction quality for the members we support. Taking part in these workshops is tremendously beneficial for overall recovery from their injury, as the creative process also contributes to their emotional and psychological healing”

Claire de Silva, Tesco’s Head of Community, said:

“Bags of Help contributes funds to community projects up and down the country and whilst our customers have not been able to vote in this round, we’ve been delighted by the number of colleagues who have come together to choose projects in their local areas. In what has been an extremely tough year, we’re looking forward to seeing these projects providing support for their communities brought to life.”

Funding is available to community groups and charities looking to fund local projects that bring benefits to communities.
